Is My Asset Ready for Monetization or Collateral Use?

Quick Self-Check Guide

Use the checklist below.
If you can answer YES to most of these, your asset is likely ready for review.

✅ STEP 1 — Authenticity (Required)

Can the asset be proven genuine?

✔ I can provide independent proof the asset is real
✔ I have certificates, assays, or issuer verification
✔ The asset is not a replica, copy, or unverifiable item

Examples:

  • Gold → assay / refinery report

  • Gems → GIA or equivalent certificate

  • Documents → issuer or forensic verification

➡️ If NO: The asset is not ready yet.

✅ STEP 2 — Verifiable Value (Required)

Can the value be supported, not just claimed?

✔ I can show how the value was calculated
✔ I have appraisals, assays, or market references
✔ The valuation method is reasonable and explainable

Value must be defensible, not aspirational.

➡️ If NO: The asset needs proper valuation first.

✅ STEP 3 — Clear Ownership (Required)

Can you prove you legally own the asset?

✔ I have title, proof of purchase, or transfer documents
✔ Ownership is clear and undisputed
✔ No one else can claim rights to the asset

➡️ If NO: Ownership must be clarified before review.

✅ STEP 4 — Possession (“Proof of Life”)

Do you physically control the asset?

✔ The asset is in my possession or controlled custody
✔ I can show it via inspection, video, or site visit
✔ It is not “somewhere else” or controlled by another party

In law and banking, possession demonstrates control.

➡️ If NO: The asset is not ready yet.

✅ STEP 5 — Legitimate Transfer & Chain of Custody

Was the asset acquired legally?

✔ I can explain how I obtained the asset
✔ The transfer was lawful and documented
✔ The asset is not stolen, disputed, or encumbered
✔ Prior owner information can be confirmed if needed

This protects both the client and the bank from litigation.

➡️ If NO: The asset cannot be accepted.

✅ STEP 6 — No Undisclosed Liens or Claims

Is the asset free and clear?

✔ No hidden liens or pledges
✔ No unresolved legal disputes
✔ No prior assignments unless disclosed

➡️ If NO: The issue must be resolved first.

✅ STEP 7 — Willingness to Structure (Important)

Are you willing to structure the asset if required?

✔ I understand the asset may be assigned or co-signed
✔ I understand custody may be bonded or controlled
✔ I understand ownership may be temporarily structured (not sold)

Asset monetization is structured finance, not a pawn shop.

➡️ If NO: Monetization may not be possible.
