Epic of Baal

1	Aliyan Baal rejoices.
2	"My house have I built of silver.
3	My palace of gold have I made."
4	His house, Baal prepares.
5	Hadad prepares the housewarming of His palace.
6	He slaughters great and small cattle
7	He fells oxen and ram-fatlings.
8	Yearling calves,
9	Little lambs and kids.
10	He called His brothers into His house.
11	His kinsmen into the midst of His palace.
12	He called the Seventy sons of Asherah.
13	He caused the sheep Gods to drink wine.
14	He caused the ewe Goddesses to drink wine.
15	He cause the bull Gods to drink wine.
16	He caused the cow Goddesses to drink wine.
17	He caused the throne Gods to drink wine.
18	He caused the chair Goddesses to drink wine.
19	He caused the jar Gods to drink wine.
20	He caused the jug Goddesses to drink wine.
21	Until the Gods had eaten and drunk,
22	And the sucklings quaffed
23	With a keen knife
24	A slice of fatling.
25	They drink wine from a goblet,
26	From a cup of gold, the blood of vines.
27	Lord Baal went on to take possesion of many earthly cities.
28	Sixty-six, Seventy-Seven towns He took.
29	Eighty, Ninety was the total number of cities that fell to the posession of Mighty Hadad.
30	Thus Baal returned to His home as Lord of all the World.
31	As Baal went into the midst of the house Aliyan Baal declared: "I would install, Kothar, son of the Sea, Yea Kothar, son of the assembly!
32	Let a casement be opened in the house;
33	A window in the midst of the palace,
34	And let the clouds be opened with rain
35	On the opening of Kothar-u-Khasis."
